This study will evaluate subjects with adult- and childhood-onset myositis to learn more about their causes, and the immune system changes and medical problems associated with them. Myositis is an inflammatory muscle disease that can damage muscles and other organs, resulting in significant disability.

The purpose of this research study is to build a collection of human biological samples and health data. Researchers will use these samples to develop, test, and practice various laboratory procedures. This research study will evaluate an investigational agent called hymecromone to see if it can help people with interstitial lung disease or idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). Medications that stop or reverse the progression of lung fibrosis are urgently needed. This research will determine if hymecromone can treat lung fibrosis by lowering hyaluronan levels.
